M&M brings an Industry First revolution; Mahindra stock rise

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M), on Wednesday announced an industry first initiative in the automotive retail space launching of its 'Bring the Showroom Home', which is a mobile based, interactive Virtual Reality (IVR) experience, as unique initiative wherein a customer would get a 360 degree, all-encompassing and immersive virtual show-room experience.

Through an immersive technology experience, the customer can co-create and identify his Mahindra vehicle with any specification, in the convenience and comfort of his home and involve his family in the decision making process.

M&M is laying a bet big on digital connect for driving its passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market. The company, which is currently recording an 8% digital to final showroom sale rate, is buoyant about increasing it to 15% by the fiscal 2018-2019.


The stock Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd today closed at Rs. 765.90, up by 0.13% at National Stock Exchange (NSE).

KPIT Technologies gains 7 pct post merger with Birlasoft:: Share trading tips

Shares of KPIT Technologies gained around 7 percent after the company announced a merger with Noida based Birlasoft India Limited.

The BoD of KPIT Technologies Ltd  at its meeting held on  Monday 29 January, 2018 have, approved the Draft Scheme amalgamation Birlasoft with the Company and demerger of the engineering business of the Company into KPIT Engineering Limited to be renamed as KPIT Technologies Limited.

As per Axis Capital, the deal values Birlasoft merger as neutral for the company and the deal values Birlasoft at par with KPIT Technologies in spite of strong growth.

Shares of KPIT Technologies Limited was last trading, post lunch hours, Tuesday, in BSE at Rs.219.35 up Rs 10.10, or 4.83 with reference to the previous close of Rs. 211.35.  Shares of KPIT Technologies touched a 52-week high of Rs. 223.30.

Galaxy Surfactants raises Rs 281 cr from anchor investors

Specialty chemical manufacturer Galaxy Surfactants Limited's initial public offer (IPO) will hit capital market on Monday, 29 January 2018. Galaxy Surfactants, the leading specialty chemicals maker, on Friday announced that it has garnered over Rs 281 crore ahead of its IPO.

The IPO seeks to raise Rs 937 crore from the market. It has finalized allocation of 18,99,500 equity shares to 25 anchor investors at Rs 1,480 per share.

The offer comprises to 63,31,674 equity shares of face value of Rs 10 each for cash, Rs 10 aggregating up to Rs 937.09 Cr.


Edelweiss Financial Services, J.M Financial Institutional Securities & ICICI Securities will manage the public issue. The Company’s equity shares will be listing both on BSE and NSE.

Shriram Transport sells stakes in Shriram Automall for Rs. 156 cr

Shriram Transport Finance Company Limited (STFCL) has agreed to sell stakes in its subsidiary Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) to MXC Solutions India, which runs an online auctions platform to buy and sell vehicles. The two companies have inked the share purchase agreement and the deal is valued at Rs. 156.00 crore, as per media report.

Meanwhile, the stock of Shriram Transport Finance was ended at the closing hours on NSE at Rs. 1,435 per share, down Rs. 33.80 or 2.30 percent while on BSE, the  stock closed at Rs 1,437.35, down 2.13%. 


The equity benchmarks managed to settle at fresh record peak. The BSE Sensex rose 22 points to end at a new high of 36,162. The Nifty50 index settled 2 points up at a fresh record of 11,086.

Alembic Limited which engaged in the business of pharmaceuticals, real estate & power assets, today announced that the company has approved the proposal for buy-back of over 1.2 crore fully paid up equity shares of the Company, having face value of Rs. 2.00 each, for a total consideration not exceeding Rs. 82.00 crore, representing up to 3.84% of the total paid-up equity share capital of the company. The consideration excludes transaction costs viz fees, brokerage, securities transaction tax, GST, stamp duty and so on.

Meanwhile, the Alembic has reported a standalone net profit of Rs 56.00 million in Dec 2017 quarter. The Company had profit of Rs 7.00 million in the same quarter last year.


At 3.00 PM, Wednesday, the stocks of Alembic were trading higher by 4.51% and 4.29% respectively, on NSE and BSE.

IOC gains 2.9% on bonus issue proposal

Shares of state owned oil and gas company, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC), surged by over 4% during the afternoon hours, on the Exchanges on Tuesday as the company announced that its board may consider issuance of bonus shares in its meeting scheduled on January 30, 2018. However, at closing hours, the IOC stock ended up by 2.09% on NSE.

The IOC will also be announcing its Q3 results on January 30, 2018. The company’s board has also recommended issue of bonus shares in 1:1 ratio, which would effect in the addition of one equity bonus share for every existing equity share.

The stock closed at Rs. 390.50 up by 2.09% on NSE, while BSE Sensex closed higher by 341.97 points, to 36,139.98 and Nifty50 rose 117.50 points to close at 11,083.70.

Axis Bank Q3 profit rises 25 pct

Axis Bank Ltd posted a 25.3% rise in its Q3 net profit, helped by higher interest and fee income plus a drop in provisions for bad loans, although results fell slightly short of a consensus estimate.

Net profit rose to Rs 726.44 crore or USD 113.86 million, for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2017 from Rs 579.57 crore a year ago, the country's third-largest private sector lender by assets, announced on Monday.

Gross bad loans as a percentage of total loans stood at 5.28% at December end, vis-à-vis 5.90% in the previous quarter and 5.22% a year earlier.


Shares of Axis Bank today closed at Rs. 614 on the BSE, up 4.02% from previous its close, while benchmark Sensex index rose 0.81% to 35,798.10 points, while on NSE the share price closed at Rs 611.30 up by 3.57%

HCL Technologies Q3 Net profit marginally up at Rs 2,075 cr.

India’s fourth largest software major,  HCL Technologies Limited, has posted a Marginal increase of 0.59% in its consolidated net profit at Rs 2075 cr for the Q3 (quarter ended Dec 2017) with regard to the net profit of Rs 2,063 crore for the corresponding  quarter a year-ago.

Total Income for the quarter under review jumped by 8.40% to Rs 13,079 cr, during the quarter from Rs 12065 cr, in the year-ago period, HCL said in a filing with BSE.

The company has declared an interim dividend of Rs 2.00 per share for the FY 2017-18. The record date of Jan 30, 2018 fixed for the payment of the interim dividend and the payment date of interim dividend will be Feb 5.


Shares of HCL Technologies Limited were trading marginally up by 0.07 percent at Rs. 954.90 on NSE post lunch hours, while in BSE too the same was trading up at Rs. 956.75 up by 0.20 percent.

L&T Technology Services Wins $50 Million Avionics Contract

L&T Technology Services Limited, an established global pure-play Engg R&D services company, on Thursday announced that the company has won a pointer project worth USD 50 million spanning over 5-years from the global aerospace electronic systems manufacturer.

The new deal also complements the impetus achieved by the company in the areas of electric vehicles, autonomous cars, infotainment and embedded devices to name a select few.

Barbeque Nation Hospitality Float an IPO of 700 cr

Barbeque Nation Hospitality Ltd which owns and runs a chain of casual dining restaurants throughout India under the Barbeque-Nation brand name, has received markets regulator’s nod to raise an estimated Rs. 700 crore through initial public offering (IPO).

The IPO comprises fresh issue of shares worth Rs. 200 crore and an offer for sale of up to 61,79,000 equity shares, as per the DRHP, filed by the company. The offer consists of a reservation of upto 1.5 lakh equity shares for the company’s employees.

Barbeque Nation Hospitality has signed IIFL Holdings, Jefferies India, Edelweiss Financial Services and SBI Capital Markets for the book running lead managers to the issue. 


With the IPO markets picking up momentum after an engaging year 2017 for IPOs, the markets are set to salute big IPOs of companies including Reliance General Insurance Company, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, IRCTC, Barbeque Nation Hospitality and HG Infra Engineering among others.

L&T Construction bags orders worth Rs 1,310 crore:

Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), one of the largest and most reputed engineering companies in India, on Monday said, its construction arm L&T Construction has obtained orders worth Rs 1,310 cr, across various business segments.

The total order consist of Rs. 631 crore for the Water & Effluent Treatment biz, order for Power Transmission & Distribution biz  worth Rs 339 crore and for Buildings & Factories biz  worth Rs 340 crore, totaling 1310 crore.

The company has also bagged an order from BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company) to convert the overhead conductor sys to an underground cabling sys to achieve reliable and un-interrupted power supply with enhanced voltage profile, in a sub-division of Bengaluru Metropolitan Area Zone.


Shares of Larsen & Toubro Limited were trading up by 0.03% at 1,329.60 on NSE post lunch hours, today.

TCL completes sale of urea biz to Yara Fertilizers

Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) has completed the sale of its urea and customized fertilizers business to Yara Fertilizers India Pvt Limited for Rs 2,682 crore. The company said in a BSE filing that sale and transfer of the business between the companies secured the final approval of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

TCL has received the consideration of Rs 2,682 crore, subject to post completion working capital adjustments from Yara Fertilizers on January 12, 2018, it said.

TCL’s profit after tax (PAT) increased by over 80% to Rs. 156.35 crore in the Q2 FY18 as against Rs. 86.52 crore in the Q2 FY17. The company had posted a 5.76% drop in it PAT to Rs. 557.88 crore in the fiscal year 2017 on a yearly basis.


Meantime, shares of Tata Chemicals Limited closed at Rs. 764.25, down by Rs. 6.75 or 0.88 on the NSE, Friday.

Amber Enterprises to launch Rs. 555 crore IPO on 17 January

Amber Enterprises India Ltd, a prominent solution provider for Air conditioner Industry in India, on Wednesday said it will launch a Rs. 555 crore IPO on 17 January. The company has priced its shares ranging Rs. 855 - 859 per share, which comprises a fresh issue of shares of Rs. 450 crore and an offer for sale of shares of Rs. 105 by promoters of the firm Jasbir Singh & Daljit Singh. The offering closes on 19 January.

In the fiscal 2016-17, Amber Enterprises India Limited’s posted revenue of Rs. 1652.20 cr, up from Rs. 1092.10 cr, in the previous year. The company earned a profit of Rs. 27.8 cr, up from Rs. 24.1 cr, in the previous year.


Investment banks Edelweiss Fin Services Ltd, SBI Capital Markets, IDFC Bank Ltd and BNP Paribas are managing the share sale.

Newgen Software launches Rs. 400 crore IPO on 16 January

Newgen Software Technologies Limited has said that it will launch an initial public offering (IPO) on 16 January to raise over Rs. 400 crore. The company has fixed a price band of Rs. 240-245 per share. The IPO comprises a fresh issue of shares worth Rs. 95 crore and an OFS of 13.45 million shares by existing venture capital investors. The IPO closes on 18 January. At the upper end of the price band, the offer will collectively bring in the company and the exiting investors around Rs. 424.6 crore.
Venture capital investors sell their stakes include Ascent Capital, IDG Ventures and SAP Ventures. Ascent Capital is selling its entire 11.42% stake in Newgen, while IDG is selling 4.57% and SAP Ventures’ 3.31%.

Investment banks ICICI Securities Ltd, IDFC Bank Ltd and Jefferies India Pvt Ltd are managing the Newgen share sale.  Newgen Software Technologies’ IPO will be the second initial share sale this year.

Leading tyre manufacturer Apollo Tyres Limited announced that it plans to invest Rs. 1800 crore for setting up a Greenfield plant at Andhra Pradesh. The announcement was made during the foundation-stone-laying ceremony of Apollo Tyres’ global scale mfg facility on Tuesday, 9 January.

Apollo Tyres has bought 200 acres land from the Andhra Pradesh govt for this development. The construction will commence within the next 6 months, and the tyres are likely to start rolling out from this facility in the following 2 years.

Presently, Apollo Tyre has four production plants, of these two are in Kerala and one in Gujarat and another one in Tamil Nadu. This novel planned facility of Apollo Tyres Limited is located in Chinnapanduru village, Chittoor district, in Andhra Pradesh.


The stock of Apollo Tyre Limited open on Tuesday’s trade at Rs. 283 and touched day's high of Rs. 288.7, up 1.7% from the previous close of Rs. 283.80. The stock closed at Rs. 284.95, up by Rs. 1.25 or 0.44 per cent at NSE.

L&T commissions 360 MW Bheramara Cycle Power Plant in Bangladesh

Hindustan Construction Co. Limited (HCC) on Monday announced that its joint venture comopany AL Faraa has bagged a contract worth Rs. 484 crore from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corpn for the Pune metro project.

The contract comprises construction of 8 elevated stations on line II of the Pune metro rail project. The work constitutes general & structural civil works of the station buildings & architectural and site development. The 14.66 k.m long elevated Line-II of Pune Metro has 16 stations out of which 8 stations will be built by HCC. The project is to be completed in 3 years.


At 14:22 hours, shares of Hindustan Construction were trading at Rs. 43.35 per share, up Rs 1.40 or 3.34 % on the NSE.

Apollo Micro Systems Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company, offering integrated solutions to the aerospace, defense-space, home land security and transportation sectors, on Thursday announced that it will launch its Rs. 156 core IPO on 10 January.

This Initial Public Offer will be the first one to be launched in 2018. The company has set a price band of Rs. 270 to 275 per share for the offer. The IPO will close on 12 January.
In the financial year 2017, the company reported revenue of Rs. 211.8 crore, up 33 percent from the previous fiscal.


In the year 2017, the Indian primary market has seen 36 Initial public offers with companies raising a record Rs. 67,147 crore, as per data from the Prime Database.

Idea Cellular raises Rs 3,250 crore from promoter group

Idea Cellular Ltd. will raise Rs 3,250 cr, by selling shares to the Kumar Mangalam Birla-led promoter group by issuing 32.66 cr equity shares on a preferential basis at Rs 99.50 apiece to all or any of Birla TMT Holdings Pvt Ltd, Oriana Investments Singapore, Elaine Investments Singapore, Surya Kiran Investments Singapore, the company said in the exchange filing.  It also set up a panel to consider options to raise an additional Rs 3,500 crore via a preferential issue, a QIP or a rights issue.

Fresh equity funding will allow Idea Cellular to better defend its revenues and market share. The proposal appears to be driven by merger conditions, and not by instant cash crunch or any covenant breach, it added.

The Preferential issue is likely to be completed by early February. Promoter holding in Idea Cellular to increase to 47.2 percent from 42.4 percent, after the preferential issue.


Shares of Idea Cellular closed at 2.85% to Rs 105.55 in NSE on the back of this announcement.

Reliance Industries completes USD 11 billion expansion plan

India's private petrochemical major, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has successfully commissioned the refinery off-gas cracker (ROGC) complex built at Jamnagar, Gujarat. The company houses its integrated refining and petrochemicals production hub at Jamnagar. The ROGC complex is the world's largest ethylene crackers using residue off-gas to create feedstock for manufacturing downstream petrochemicals. The project cost the company US Dollar 11 billion in capital expenditure.

The refinery off-gas cracker complex has a unique configuration since it uses off-gases from Reliance’s two refineries at Jamnagar which will boost the operating income of the company.


Today’s Stock closing bell, the Shares of Reliance Industries quoted Rs. 916.95 per share, up 0.61%. The BSE-Sensex ended at 33,793.38, down 18.88 points while the NSE-Nifty-50 index rose 1 point to 10,443.20.  

PNB sells entire stake in Principal Financial Group JV

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has sold its whole stake in the JV with Principal Financial Group to give full ownership of Principal PNB AMC and Principal Trustee Co. Pvt. Ltd in India. The Principal Financial Group would purchase PNB’s minority stakes in their joint ventures.  The agreement is depending on regulatory approval.

According to the website of PNB, the second largest public sector bank by market cap, it holds 21.38% in Principal PNB Asset Management Co. and 30% in Principal Trustee.

Principal PNB Asset Management Co. is the investment manager to Principal Mutual Fund.

Year 2017 marked a significant move for auto sales, aided by the continued growth in the Auto sector by the sales figures of Dec 2017.  The primary reason for the growth on Y-o-Y basis was the effects of demonetization on Dec 2016.

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited clocked a 10.3% jump in sales for Dec driven by demand for its vans and compact cars. The car maker sold a little over 1.3 lakh units v/s to 1.17 lakh in the same month a year ago, as per the company’s exchange filing. Total domestic sales rose 12.1% to 1.19 lakh units while export sales fell 6.2% to 10,780 units.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited’s (M&M) sales grew 8% percent to 39,200 vehicles in Dec 2017, led by strong demand for its commercial vehicles.

In the 2-wheeler segment, TVS Motors Limited reported a significant growth of 35% in total sales, in which exports surged to 55% during the period, whereas Eicher Motors Limited, reported 17% growth led by spike in demand for its two-wheelers, aided by stellar growth in their exports. 


Bajaj Auto sales grew by 30% in December on Y-o-Y basis, on account of strong exports. Sale of commercial vehicles rose 187% to 63,785 units compared to that a year ago. Sale of motorcycles also grew 13%. Motorcycle sales within India grew only 6% while two-wheeler exports rose 20%

More than 150 initial public offers (IPO) hit the Indian stock market in 2017, raising USD 11.6 billion, however, for the New Year-2018 a few top upcoming IPOs, among others,  st to hit the market which include:
NSE: National Stock Exchange, the country's biggest exchange filed DRHP with Sebi in Dec 2016 and is set to enter the market this year. ICICI Securities: ICICI Securities intends  Rs. 3000 - 4000 crore IPO issue which comprises sale of 20 per cent  stake by ICICI Bank which equals to 64,428,280 equity shares with a reservation of 32.21 lakh equity shares for individual & HUF shareholders of the bank.
Hindustan Aeronautics: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) got SEBI nod for IPO in October 2017. Through the stake sale, the company aims to sell 36.2 million shares and garner a total of Rs. 2000 to Rs. 2500 crore.
HDFC AMC:  HDFC Asset Management Company has received the approval for stake sale via IPO offering. The company has listed its insurance arm in 2017.
